Setting the Dose
Check that the dose selector is set a “0”. Dial the number of units needed; the dose can be corrected either up or down by turning the dose in either direction. When dialing back, be careful not to press the push button, as insulin will come out. A dose cannot be set for more than the number of units remaining in the reservoir, ie if 30 units is needed but only 20 remain, you cannot dial past 20; instruct patient to discard the pen and start a new one.
