Depth
The depth of a wound is measured using a linear device or cotton tipped applicator. The device is gently inserted into the deepest area of the wound. Using the thumb and index finger, grasp the device where it exits the wound at skin level. Using a ruler, measure the area from the tip to the point grasped between the thumb and index finger.
